John James Audubon was born in Les Cayes, Haiti, in the year 1785. In addition to his career in art, he was also a renowned ornithologist and naturalist. Combining his love of birds and art, Audubon began his mission to record all the birds of America in watercolors, pastels, and chalks, a bold move during a time period where oil painting was king. Now, many of his works have been reproduced as prints, making his combined passions accessible to all.
